Testdroid Exception Handling

Frank Harper Feb 02, 2013 12:11PM CET

I noticed that TestDroid recorder generates exception handling code for every test case.

When I am writing my own test cases should I be adding the same code? If so why?

Below is an example of code generated by TestDroid recorder
try {
// ... test code here
} catch (AssertionFailedError e) {
solo.fail("com.test.Activity_Test.testRecorded_scr_fail", e);
throw e;
} catch (Exception e) {
solo.fail("com.test.Activity_Test.testRecorded_scr_fail", e);
throw e;
}

It's not needed. We implemented fail method, which takes screenshot and saves information about failed step in special file. We and our customers find it very useful, especially for tests run in Testdroid Cloud. This way we are able to show which step failed and show screenshot after it.
